Leah Nashel is originally from Newtown, Connecticut. She is part of the MFA Painting 2026 cohort at Boston University.

My work returns repeatedly to themes of selfhood, intimacy, and the crafting of personas. Working in both a gestural and observational way, I am interested in paint’s capacity to create psychological spaces and engender apparitions beyond what we readily see: auras and presences, dream-like perceptions, familiar but unplaceable things.
