About
Leah Nashel is an artist, singer, and writer originally from Newtown, Connecticut. She is part of the MFA Painting 2026 cohort at Boston University.
Her work considers selfhood in its expansiveness, and often returns to a fascination with the qualities, limits, and mutability of gender roles. She is interested in the symbolic nature of objects and fashion, in personal style and self-presentation, in seeing and being seen. In Nashel’s work, layers of reality emerge beyond what we readily see: auras and presences, dream-like perceptions, familiar but unplaceable things.
